Apabila musibah melanda...

Menyesal pula balik bercuti di kampung hujung minggu. Sekarang, dah tak boleh keluar dari sini. Nasib baiklah rumah ni di kawasan tinggi sikit. Tapi, kawasan yang lain yang tenggelam. Jalan utama dah tutup.
Jawabnya, berkampung dalam rumah sehinggalah air banjir surut. Adik-beradik lain ada di rumah sama. Balik sebab nak kemas-kemas bilik masing-masing. Takut barang-barang kesayangan dibawa air.
Yang peliknya, abah nampak happy. Aku pun pelik. Adik-beradik lain pun pelik. Dahlah streamyx pun dah terputus, tiang dah tumbang. Internet fon bukan main siput lagi. Bosan kot duk rumah ni. Nak-nak, seminggu nak hidup dalam banjir. Nak tengok tv, tak ada cerita best. Nak layan movie di laptop, bosan ulang tayang benda sama. Nak turun dari rumah main air banjir, nanti demam pula tak pasal-pasal. Last-last, duduk sajalah dalam bilik. Tidur.
Lepas Isyak, abah panggil semua anak-anaknya berkumpul. Abah suruh : “Semua ambil Al-Quran, tunggu di ruang tamu.”
Aku pun dengan malas ambil Al-Quran dan tunggu. Adik-beradik lain pun nampak malas juga. Maklumlah sibuk dengan henpon masing-masing. Dah besar-besar belaka dah pun. Semua umur 22 ke atas. Memang dah season berpasangan belaka. Dah beberapa orang yang kahwin.
“Semua dah ada ya. Baiklah, abah nak tanya, berapa umur abah sekarang?”
Angah menjawab : “67 tahun. Kenapa abah?”
Abah senyum. “Rasulullah s.a.w. umur 63 tahun wafat. Bermakna abah sekarang dah guna umur subsidi 4 tahun.”
Along pula mencelah. “Kita nak baca Ya Sin ke malam ni? Siapa yang meninggal?”
Abah menggelengkan kepala. “Malam ni, abah nak setiap seorang baca Al-Quran depan abah. Biar abah dengar dan check, betul atau tidak bacaan kamu.”
Kami semua tersentak seketika. Angah bersuara, “Tapi, kami dah dewasa. Dah umur 20, 30 tahun dah. Dah boleh baca sendiri, abah.”
Abah senyum. “Bila kali terakhir kamu baca Al-Quran depan abah?”
Semua terdiam. Abah menyambung kata, “Seingat abah, kali terakhir setiap dari kamu baca depan abah, masa akhir sekolah rendah. Kemudian, khatam. Lepas tu, setiap dari kamu sibuk dengan study, kejar cita-cita masing, hinggalah dapat kerja dan berkeluarga. Jarang ada di rumah lagi.”
Along mencelah pula, “Maksud abah? Kami tak faham.”
Abah senyum manis. “Adakah abah hanya layak periksa bacaan anak-anak masa kamu semua masih kecil saja? Tak kan?”
“Akhir-akhir ini, abah banyak berfikir. Kerja mengajar Al-Quran pada anak-anak sepatutnya kerja abah seumur hidup. Supaya setiap hari, abah dapat pastikan anak-anak baca Al-Quran. Hidup dengan Al-Quran. Tapi, abah perhati, misalnya bila kamu balik kolej, tak ada pun anak-anak abah nak datang dekat abah, baca Al-Quran seperti kamu kecil-kecil dulu. Balik kampung, tak pernah abah dengar antara kamu baca Al-Quran walaupun berseorangan. Semuanya asyik dengan hal masing-masing.
Abah rasa abah gagal sebagai seorang abah. Abah dah tua begini. Baru abah sedar kesilapan abah. Abah dah tengok anak-anak abah berjaya di dunia. Belajar bagus, kerja pun alhamdulillah. Tapi, dari sudut akhirat, abah rasa dukacita. Abah tak menyediakan anak-anak abah dengan jiwa Al-Quran. Andai baca pun jarang, bagaimana nak beramal dengan isi dalam Al-Quran itu? Jauh sekali.”
Kami semua terdiam lama. Sebak. Terasa ke lubuk kalbu. Akui memang Al-Quran dipinggirkan dalam kehidupan sehari-hari selama ini.
“Abah dah tua, abah harap abah belum terlambat untuk mengajar Al-Quran pada kamu semua balik. Harap sangat.”
Along ke depan abah. Dengan linangan air mata. Angah pun sama turut menangis. Aku pun dah menitis air mata sama.
“Along nak baca dulu, abah. Bagi along baca dulu. Abah periksa bacaan along dulu.”
Abah senyum, namun aku nampak air matanya jatuh saat mendengar anaknya seorang demi seorang membaca Al-Quran di hadapannya. Seolah-olah berkata dalam hatinya, Abah takkan putus asa. Selagi ada masa tersisa.”

MAS...oh...MAS...sigh


My posting on FB yesterday on MAS reported losses of 1.2billion -

Well Mr PAC (Public Accounts Committee)...allow me to enlighten you...here's why..:-

Basic principle of managing an airline is; cost control. As a matter of fact; all businesses applies the same basic principle. Unfortunately; MAS management has no freaking clue on how to reduce their operating cost. Here's some tips from my book of Managing Airline Operating Cost for A Bunch of Idiots:-


1. Too many redundant staffs. Your Union is too powerful. They don't care if the company running at lost so long as they can keep their job till they die. As such, give them an ultimatum. Hit the KPI or hit the road!



2. Your multiple types of a/craft currently in ops is definitely not helping your books. Multiple types of a/craft meaning multiple types of spare parts you have to have in-hand. Your cashflow on parts alone will kill you! 



3. Your Revenue Management System sucks! From which third world country did you procure this system? Expensive and fancy system does not guarantee good results. Its the person handling the Department is incompetent!

4. For some weird reasons; you are still keeping 'dead wood' in the company. Get rid of these people! They are enjoying the salary, bitch a lot, maximize their privilege and contribute absolutely nothing!

5. Cut down on privilege enjoyed by your staffs. Its time for them to sacrifice on what they have enjoyed for many years. No more upgrading to C Class for them. Enough is enough...no more jolly ride.

6. The time has come for you to peg your fuel price. This commodity fluctuates like hell! Go back to your fuel supplier. Re-negotiate your terms. Peg it for the next 5 years. Once you peg your fuel price; atleast now you know your base cost on fuel.

7. Can you start whacking your pilots? They seem to enjoy every minute of burning fuel like crazy. One simple trick to reduce fuel burn is to fly higher! The higher you fly, the lighter you are and the less fuel you will burn. Not rocket science.

8. Your a/craft turn around time still unbelievably sloowwww!!! If now it takes you 1 hour...reduce it to 45 mins. So, if each sector you can save 15 mins and if each a/craft serves 6 sectors in a day, that's a saving of 1.5 hrs of engine cycles per day! Multiply that by 365 days...you need a calculator?

9. Shutdown or reduce your manpower at your overseas office. You don't need fancy set-up. A simple set-up will do...its the result that matters

10. Re-negotiate your ground handling contracts overseas or maybe its time for you to selfhandle. Crunch some numbers...

11. Your competitor is not Air Asia or Malindo...its SIA..and guess what; they are making tonnes of money and you are losing tonnes...

I can go on and on Mr PAC...

Smack them and stop spoon feeding this organization....
